Hand Carved and Painted Adinkra Symbol Masks Pair 'None But God'

"Etched on the foreheads of this pair of masks is the Adinkra symbol gye nyame, which signifies the omnipotence and immortality of God. Abdul Aziz Mohamadu of Ghana carves the pair by hand from native sese wood, and paints them in red, green, brown, black and yellow. Adinkra symbols, originally created by the Akan peoples of Ghana, are visual icons that represent a concept or proverb."
